Geranium** – Copenhagen

Geranium – “Gold Bocuse D’Or & rising star”

Chef: Rasmus Kofoed – Soren Ledet

Update 2013: Geranium receives his ‘second**’ star!

Update 2012: Our feeling was confirmed as Geranium got this year the well deserved *Michelin star and restaurant Geranium entered the World’s 50 best restaurants on place 49!

Currently Copenhagen is one of those hot destinations for foodies. After having planned a Noma city trip we decided to listen to all food bloggers and also make reservation in Geranium. We have not regretted this move in any moment!

Previously the restaurant was located in Rosenberg Gardens but in 2010 they reopened in Faelledparken. When arriving I couldn’t believe the fact that this up class restaurant was situated on the 8th floor of the Soccer stadium. The restaurant has a very stylish entrance and a small cozy lounge for aperitifs. The interior is beautiful, a modern state of the art dining room with big glass windows towards the kitchen.

Chef Rasmus Kofoed is again one of those award winning Scandinavian chefs. In 2011 he won finally the Gold Bocuse D’Or contest after having previously won the bronze and silver. This great New Nordic Cuisine, together with many other created a real Scandinavian gastro-revolution.

Geranium serves a tasting menu but you can also choose for a very creative “green menu”. As it was the day after a Noma experience it was for sure not easy to impress our group. The evening started with several great amuses and was followed by a great gastronomical walk.

It was a great evening with excellent food combinations; the service was correct but a little cold. On the other hand the creativity, innovative combinations and lovely tastes made this visit an unforgettable one. Geranium received in 2011 a rising star from Michelin but quoted on our evening experience for sure worth a 2**star rating.
