MOO / Hotel Omm*: “Gastronomic dinners in a DJ scene”

Chef: Felip Llufriu

Having launched an advise for Barcelona dinner tips on Facebook, there was one spot that was absolutely put in the picture, “Moo”. Restaurant Moo is located in the trendy Hotel Omm. The restaurant is inspired and overseen by the Roca brothers. With this support we had off course big expectations from Chef Felip Llufriu. That the restaurant of the Roca brothers is on our wish list could be expected as for the second consecutive year, El Cellar de Can Roca takes position number 2 on the San Pellegrino list “World’s 50 best restaurants”.

Restaurant Moo is located in the lobby of Boutique hotel Omm just few meters from the Passeig de Gràcia. In the middle of the lobby they created Moo’s cocktail bar & Lounge, one of the most hip and trendy places in town. In the basement you have Mon Key Club for Barcelona’s nightlife. I was curious how in this vibrant creation of the grupo Traguluz, a one star Michelin restaurant would be implemented.

The restaurant itself is at the back of the lobby facing an artificial art garden. Different table settings surrounded by artworks have been designed in order to create a more cosy and loungy atmosphere. When entering the restaurant was very dark and we were surprised that for a Saturday evening such a reference was not full. Photo quality is very bad due to the cosy but dark lightning.

On the menu you can choose between the menu Végétarian, menu de Saison or the Menu Dégustation Joan Roca. The last one looked very promising but with 100€ also pricy!

At the end service, which was already not in line with one star, became very slow and made many mistakes. Also toilets were dirty and although we had the late dinner choice at 21.00 it is not done to serve desserts after midnight. The lobby nightlife with DJ, what was initially expected as a positive experience, turned out to give me an unpleasant feeling. It’s great to party but less to finish an expensive dinner. It was different than the previous evening in Comerc,24 but still we had an amazing evening, enjoyed the food and …the party!

  1. Thanks for the review! We were thinking about combining this place with our visit to El Celler de can Roca in September, but I guess we’ll be choosing anther option.
