Chef: João Rodrigues

Feitoria is the gourmet restaurant of the Altis Belém Hotel & Spa in Lisbon. This five star design hotel is nestled on the banks of the Tagus River. Its beautiful location in the historic neighbourhood of Belem features an amazing view on the city and the nearby harbour. The hotel is located close to the monuments that represent the Portuguese discoveries: the iconic Jerónimos Monastery, the Belém tower, and the Monument to the Discoveries Padrão dos Descobrimentos. You will discover the unique river location in the district Belem – Lisbon. With its vibrant design the futuristic white property features a minimalist interior that combines light wood elements with metal, glass and colourful items. The 50 luxury rooms contain themes from the Golden Age trading routes from the Far East, Africa and the Americas and are inspired by Portugal’s greatest explorers. Ones inside you will find yourself indulged in a modern, fresh atmosphere.

Restaurant Feitoria is the flagship restaurant of the Altis chain and one of the best restaurants in Lisbon. It is located on the ground floor of the hotel and offers a beautiful view on the Tagus River just in front. The interior of the restaurant is modern and cosmopolitan, with white, black and gold colours setting a cosy atmosphere.

Chef João Rodrigues gained experience in many Portuguese restaurants and is a master of the cuisine of his home country. Rodrigues focuses on national products and authentic preparations, but loves to combine them with some more exotic influences. Experience and presentation are important for the chef. That is why tableside preparations, show elements, and nicely decorated plates are key in a meal at Feitoria.

Wines are an important aspect of the restaurant as well. The pairing wine selection with the menu is an interesting option for a journey through to the different Portuguese wine regions. The wine menu offers interesting choices for every budget and every taste

We started our Feitoria experience with a glass champagne Billecart Salmon.

Cubes of fresh melon with hibiscus and lime zest

Cherry reconstruction with hazelnut, foie gras and a jelly of cherry

Crispy bread with creamy cheese and a slice of pork sausage

Little pie of codfish, crispy onions and almonds

Bonzai with black potato, garlic and leaves

A delicious ‘Calderade’ signature dish from the chef with: majoles, barnacles, sardines, sea bass, cockles, peppers and onions.

Amashi tartare with organic tomatoes, avocado puree and plums

Sautéed Algarve scarlet Carabinero shrimps: This preparation with the famous Carabineros from the Algarve region is a good example of the chef’s love for quality products and traditional flavours. The dish looks simple but excels in taste. The Carabineros are sautéed and completed with a sauce made from the heads. The sauce is made with an original silver duck press and prepared at the table.

Perfectly cooked sea bass with rose shrimps and pumpkin, a cucumber puree, cucumber flower and nage of lobster.

Pigeon with black figs, apple “riscadinha” from Palmela and an inense pigeon liver sauce.

Matança do Porco: Iberian Pork presa with heart of lettuce, beetroot drops and a sauce of blood sausage.

Pré dessert: merengue as a recreation of snowflakes

Strawberries with ice cream of goat milk, crispy strawberries, yoghurt powder and a juice of strawberry.

Restaurant Feitoria is a superb and creative fine-dining restaurant, located at an excellent location in Lisbon. Chef João Rodrigues and his team offer guests a food experience where Portuguese flavours meet innovation. Definitely one to watch!
