Everybody knows that beside the great selection of tapas restaurants, Barcelona also offers great spots for fresh and outstanding seafood. One of the latest openings in Barcelona’s Born district is restaurant Estimar where you will be served the best and purest produce of the sea.

Owner and chef Rafael Zafra has worked for several of the best restaurants in Spain, including the legendary El Bulli, La Hacienda Benazuza and Arzak. At Estimar he choses to serve only the best, but in a more casual and laid back atmosphere. A product driven kitchen, simply yet precisely cooked. Today he is still the executive chef of Heart Ibiza also.

Rafa Zafra is an Andalusian chef and very knowledgeable of seafood. He opened this spot together with Anna Gotanegra. The seafood experience comes from the passion of her family and goes back to 1895, when they started buying fish. More than 120 years have passed and five generations continue to buy fish at the Port of Roses, which enables Estimar to receive only the best.

Stunning fresh produce including razor clams, langoustine, oysters, cockles, octopus and whole sea bass to name but a few, are laid out in a counter with ice just in front of the open kitchen where you can watch the chefs at work.
