Saturne – Paris
Saturne: “Not good but great!”
Chef: Sven Chartier
Sommelier: Ewen Lemoigne
Travelling from Brussels is due to the perfect Eurostar schedules almost easier than driving to work in Belgium. How to plan your day if you only have one meeting to do in Paris? The two previous visits to Saturne convinced me that after the meeting, Bistronomie restaurant Saturne in Paris would be the perfect spot for showing some colleagues what great food fun is about.
Chef ‘Sven Chartier’ and sommelier ‘Ewen Lemoigne’, have been working together before in the small winebar ‘Racine’ and they worked together in the famous restaurant L’Arpège. Although the chef is still very young, he is already honoured for his funky French bistronomie dishes. Last year the OAD new European top restaurant list was presented during a dinner in Saturne and this year we can find Saturne on position 81 from foodie Steve Plotnicki’s well-respected list.
Sommelier Ewen Lemoigne pairs Chartier’s creations with some of the world’s most cutting-edge organic wines. The restaurant has an excellent location in the 2nd district, very close to the Bourse. The interior is marked with Scandinavian light touches, there is an open kitchen and the wine fridges are lovely integrated. The service reflects the no-nonsense vision while the dishes are creative and extremely well balanced.
A 3 course lunch with 3 choices per dish is served for 40€ or you can go for the 6 course carte blanche menu for 65€.
Shade fish ‘maigre de ligne’ with oyster Utah beach, lime and turnip
Suckling pig from Bigorre, pied bleu mushrooms & salsify
Chocolate, Jerusalem artichokes and hazelnut
All flavours and textures were nicely balanced and service was ‘no nonsense’ perfect. Oh yes, Saturne stays one of my favourites in Paris! CY soon,
